US Market Extends Gains
US Markets ened higher on Tuesday with Dow Jones industrial average up 19.43 points, up 0.22 percent, to 8740.87. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index was up 1.87 points, up 0.2 percent, to 944.74. The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index gained 8.12 points,up 0.44 percent, to 1836.8.Financials stocks closed lower with American Express closed lower 4.92 percent,JPMorgan down 4.46 percent.Crude oil settled at $68.55 a barrel after earlier hitting $69 a barrel.Dollar was mixed against other major currencies, while gold prices rose.
European Stocks Ended Flat
European stocks ended flat on Tuesday.Britain’s FTSE 100 fell 0.7 percent, Germany’s DAX index rose less than 0.1 percent, and France’s CAC-40 slipped less than 0.1 percent.Barclays slipped 13.5 percent after Abu Dhabi sold more than 11 percent shares in the lender.
Commodities
Crude oil settled at $68.55 a barrel after earlier hitting $69 a barrel.Dollar was mixed against other major currencies, while gold prices rose.Gold settled at $983.20 a troy ounce, up 0.5%, and is now just 2% shy of its all-time high of $1,003.20 scored in March 2008.
