Asian Markets
Asian shares trading Higher on Thursday.

Nikkei Stock Average 225 up 1.58 pct at 9,741.87.
Hang Seng Index up 1.29 pct at 18,123.42.
KOSPI Index up 1.72 pct at 1,387.22.
Straits Times Index up 0.25 pct at 2,284.68.
Shanghai Composite Index up 0.22 pct at 2,928.85.

US Markets Ended Mixed
US Markets ended mixed on Wednesday.Dow Jones industrial average down 23.05 points, down 0.28 percent, to 8,299.86. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index was up 5.84 points, up 0.65 percent, to 900.94. The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index up 27.42 points,up 1.55 percent, to 1,792.34.

Asian Markets Trading Flat

Asian Stocks are trading flat on Monday.Nikkei gained 5.1 percent last week, the Hang Seng Index 12.0 percent and the Kospi 3.1 percent.Banking and financial stocks are trading higher with Mizuho Financial Group was 4.9 percent higher, Nomura Holdings up 4.5 percent and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial up 5.0 percent.U.S. job data on Friday added optimism about the U.S.economy recovery.June Nymex crude oil futures were up down 20 cents at $58.43 a barrel on Globex.Gold was $1.05 higher at $917.25 per troy ounce.
Nikkei Stock Average 225 was down 0.49 pct down 46.49 points to 8,456.48.
Hang Seng Index was down 0.05 pct down 8.87 points to 17381.
Straits Times Index down 1.36% or 30.53 points at 2,207.68.
Shanghai Composite Index was up 1.01 pct up 26.58 points to 2,652.23.

Asian Markets are trading higher following cues from U.S. markets which closed higher led by tech and banking stocks .

Nikkei Stock Average 225 was up 2.22 pct to 8,949.55.
Hang Seng Index was up 1.56 pct to 15,826.50.
KOSPI Index up 0.58 pct at 1,344.50.
Shanghai Composite Index was down 1.48 pct to 2,496.64.U.S. Markets
On Wall Street,Stocks closed higher on Friday encouraged by JPMorgan’s results and tech stocks rallied in anticipation of better results from Google.The Dow Jones industrial average gained 95.81, 1.19 percent, to 8,125.43.The Standard & Poor’s 500 index gained 13.24, 1.55 percent, to 865.30. The Nasdaq composite index was up 43.64, 2.68 percent, to 1,670.44.

Asian stocks gained following positive cues from Wall street.Japan’s Nikkei average rose 2.29 percent on Monday .Hong Kong shares gained 3.28 percent higher.

Nikkei Stock Average 225 was up 2.29 pct to 8,949.94.
Hang Seng Index was up 3.28 pct to 15,023.20.
KOSPI Index up 2.15 at 1,311.39.
Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.23 to 2,419.78.

Asian mkts open strong; USD had its worst week since 1985

US markets slip; market disappointed in the Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility (TALF) turnout as investors applied for 2.5% of the $ 200 billion the Fed has set aside to boost consumer and small-business spending. Dow Jones ends down 1.7% or 122 points at 7278, NASDAQ down 1.8% or 26.2 points at 1458, S&P 500 down 2% or 15.5 points at 769.

US Future gain on reports that White House is expected to announce bank bailout plan to sop up banks’ toxic assets on Monday. Asian markets open strong ahead of expected Geitherner’s bank rescue plan announcement today. Nikkei, Kospi, Taiwan, Hang Seng up nearly 2%, Straits Times up 1.2%. Shanghai, Kospi, Taiwan, Jakarta markets returns positive YTD.

USD had its worst week since 1985 against a basket of currencies; Euro posted one of its best weeks against the US dollar since it was introduced in 1999. YTD performance in Dow Stocks: IBM up 10%, Citigroup down 60%.

Global Movers & Shakers: TALF Disappointment: Bank of America down 11%, JPMorgan down 7.2%. GM, Ford up 10%; Obama’s advisor to auto task force said that the gov aid to GM and Chrysler may have to be ramped up.

Global Cues: Japanese FM said that the economy needs a new stimulus plan worth trillions of yen and that a figure of 20 trillion yen ($ 209 billion) is “not out of line” ((he has already promised a stimulus in April).

Commodities: Crude up 10% last week; trading above $52/bbl; Gold up 2.7% last week.

Currencies: Yen depreciates 1.85% against USD at 96.31. Dollar trading flat Vs Euro.
